It's never too late, as the Cheer Board still needs help

  • Print

At my morning news meeting on Friday, I mentioned to the boss that we've now raised more than  $70,000 for the Cheer Board.

"That's fantastic," he said.

I replied "Ya, I think so."

It does sound like a lot of money, and we are very grateful to all of you who have helped us reach that amount. But, something had me feeling that we might be lagging behind a bit and still need a final push in our annual Spirit of Christmas fundraising campaign that supports the Cheer Board.

So I sent off an email to Kai Madsen...

"Money donations are looking better but we are not there yet," said the Cheer Board boss. "Keep pushing!!!!! it's very good, but we need more.

"Things are rolling along and deliveries are going out the door very quickly. The Winnipeg paramedics arrived in full force this morning and took several hundred hampers out for delivery, great bunch and lots of fun. There are still lots of hampers, where the recipients indicated they wished to pick up rather than have it delivered. I expect the weekend will be very hectic with both deliveries and pickups."

Yep, it's the final weekend before Christmas, and I know we all have lots to get done. If you have some spare time, the Cheer Board can still use help getting those hampers out to our neighbours in need and you still have time to send that envelope or give us a call with your support.

At this point, I could tell you a tale or two about why you should help the Cheer Board, but I think I'll just say it's the right thing to do and hope you agree.

Thanks again to all of you who have been so generous with your support of our campaign, this year and in years past. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

The Cheer Board office is open 9-5 today and Sunday. For more info on helping in whatever way you can, please call 204-989-5680.
