Let's keep the ball rolling on donations

Cheer Board counts on your kindness

  • Print

The cheques are rolling in. Thanks so much to all of you who have helped kick-start our Spirit of Christmas campaign.

The folks down at the Cheer Board are always encouraged by your generosity.

"Terrific," replied Cheer Board boss Kai Madsen when I sent him a note Friday morning to tell him we had raised over $3,500 in the first week of our campaign.

My pitch today, of course, is to continue the momentum. And to do that, we will need your help.

I have often pondered what would be the best approach to pry cash from your wallets to help our campaign.

Appeal to your hearts? Tried that last week. Liked it.

Guilt you? Not my cup of tea really.

I've always felt I should just appeal to the kindness and sense of community I know is out there.

Perhaps you just haven't had a chance to send off your support for the Cheer Board. We understand. Hope to hear from you soon.

By the way, if you are one of those folks like me who doesn't even have cheques anymore, you can also make a donation to our campaign by calling our classified department to make a credit card donation at 204-697-7100.

Madsen also wanted me to remind you that hampers will start hitting the streets next week. For people who want to pick up their own hamper, that operation will begin Wednesday. Delivery of hampers will commence Dec. 10 and there's still plenty of opportunity to pitch in and help. If you wish to volunteer to drop off hampers, call the Cheer Board at 204-989-5696.

Thanks again to all those who have joined the cause so far and look forward to the rest of you joining in.

OK, how about this? I'll put your name in the paper.
