Mennonite Blazers win women's volleyball crown, Red River takes men's

THE CANADIAN Mennonite University Blazers won the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference women's volleyball title Sunday with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23) victory over the Assiniboine Community College Cougars.

The bronze medal was won by the Red River College Rebels. They defeated the St. Boniface College Voyageurs 3-2 (15-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-8).

The women named to the MCAC All-Conference team were: Jenessa McFarland (also MVP) and Jordan Krahn of Red River; Jodi Plenert, Kirsten Hamm and Ainley Matheson of Canadian Mennonite; Stephanie Hayma of St. Boniface and Tawny Dillabough of Assiniboine.

In the men's final Sunday, Red River swept St. Boniface 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19). Third place went to Canadian Mennonite with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-22) win over the Assiniboine Cougars.

Players named to the All-Conference men's team were: Matt Lux, John Tonrud, Kevin Brown and Erik Hansen of Red River; Roger Turenne (also MVP) and Guy North of St. Boniface and David Kukkonen of Canadian Mennonite.
