Alternate schedule or maybe it's a matrix
THE hot NHL rumour earlier in the week was that Winnipeg was included on an alternate schedule the NHL has drawn up for 2010-11.
The report's been around for weeks and has been either denied or no-commented by NHL officials.

Commissioner Gary Bettman didn't directly answer a question about it during an interview with CBC's Scott Oake on Tuesday, but did say the league always has many options in the works for the future.
The schedule report was taken by some to mean a move of the Phoenix Coyotes was imminent.
More likely is the possibility that schedule was confused with matrix, a different animal.
Most leagues do matrices to determine who plays whom and how often and where, and also for conference alignment.
But a matrix is not a schedule in that dates and game order are not part of it, making it far less complicated and easier to do.
And today, the rumour just seems a little less relevant.
