Olympic Stadium in London still in running to host matches at the 2015 Rugby World Cup

LONDON - The Olympic Stadium in London is still in the running to host matches at the 2015 Rugby World Cup after tournament organizers were granted extra time to submit their 12-venue list.

There is still uncertainty over the future of the 486 million pound ($783 million) stadium in east London, with football club West Ham selected in December as the preferred tenant but yet to agree to final terms with the London Legacy Development Corporation.

Rugby World Cup organizers were scheduled to agree to their final list of venues on Friday but say "appropriate time should be given to allow every possible opportunity to include the Olympic Stadium."

The Olympic Stadium is on a long list of 17 venues that includes football and rugby grounds in England and Wales.
