Rampage denies homophobia allegation

  • Print

UFC fighter Quinton (Rampage) Jackson has denied being homophobic, saying comments in a recent interview were taken out of context.

The 31-year-old former light-heavyweight champion drew the ire of GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) after an interview in the Los Angeles Times from the set of The A-Team in Vancouver.

In the interview, Jackson said acting "is kind of gay."

"It makes you soft. You got all these people combing your hair and putting a coat over your shoulders when you're cold. I don't want a coat over my shoulders. I'm a tough-ass."

The story also reports an exchange with a movie crew member who "called the muscle-bound movie star a homophobic epithet."

"Jackson had responded with barely contained fury. He threw the guy out, shouting him down with every conceivable gay slur. 'You're a punk!' Jackson bellowed," the Times story said.
