Sarah Hendrickson narrowly beats World Cup champion Sara Takanashi in 3rd straight WC meet

OSLO - American Sarah Hendrickson edged Japan's Sara Takanashi on Sunday to win the season's last women's ski jumping World Cup meet on the large hill at Holmenkollen.
The 18-year-old Hendrickson led by 1.9 points after the first round and won the second by 0.1 points for a total of 262.8 from jumps of 135.5 and 129 metres. The 16-year-old Takanashi gained 260.8 points from leaps of 134 and 133.5 metres.
In a growing rivalry between the two young jumpers, Takanashi had already clinched the World Cup title but Hendrickson beat her Japanese rival to take gold at last month's world championships.
Hendrickson has now narrowly beaten Takanashi in the last three meets. Takanashi won eight World Cup events earlier in the season.
Overall men's winner Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria earned his ninth win of the season after tying for first with Piotr Zyla of Poland.
Schlierenzauer had jumps of 134.5 and 135 metres for 270.1 points, the exact same total as Zyla after leaps of 135.5 and 133.5. Robert Kranjec of Slovenia took third with 266.8 points.
Schlierenzauer extended his record total to 49 victories in 157 World Cup starts, with two individual events still to go in Planica, Slovenia, next week. Zyla earned the first win of his career.
