Putting on the dog

University of Washington football coach Steve Sarkisian, trying to fire up his team for Saturday's game at No. 2 LSU, brought a live tiger to practice on Tuesday.

If you thought that was impressive, wait'll U-Dub plays the Miami Hurricanes.

Practice makes perfect, and Mississippi State proved it.

A bunch of Bulldogs got tangled in a multi-player pileup when they tripped over each other running out of the tunnel before Saturday's season opener.

And then MSU ran over Jackson State, 56-9.

Stash the date

St. Louis' NFL home opener on Sept. 16 has been redubbed "Stache Bash," in which ticket-buyers can get a fake walrus mustache in honor of new Rams coach Jeff Fisher.

So what's on tap when the Cardinals come to town, Conrad Dobler Fu Manchus?

In case you've lost count, sports-reference.com reports that Major League Baseball will experience its 500,000th error (since 1876) sometime this month.

Wheel trouble

Aaron (Wheelz) Fotheringham, who set a world wheelchair jumping record with a 50-foot leap at MegaRamp Rio in Brazil on Aug. 25, wasn't quite so lucky on a 70-foot attempt in California a few weeks earlier.

"I didn't quite have the speed I needed on that one," he told ESPN.com. "I knocked my teeth out. Fortunately I had all the pieces, and they just glued my teeth back together again."
