Tebow could have played in Thursday massacre

NEW YORK -- Rex Ryan insists that Tim Tebow "100 per cent" could have played in the New York Jets' lopsided loss to the New England Patriots, despite the backup quarterback having two broken ribs.

The Jets found out two days before the game Thursday night that Tebow's sore ribs were actually fractured when results from an MRI exam and CT scan were released. Tebow was active for the game, but Ryan kept him on the sideline and intended to use him only if the Jets "absolutely have to."

Cutler's status uncertain

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The status of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler going into the weekend remains uncertain because of a concussion, although coach Lovie Smith said Friday he is optimistic about Cutler's return.

Cutler, who missed Monday night's 32-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, is listed as questionable against the Minnesota Vikings. Whether he plays in Sunday's game at Soldier Field hinges on passing a test from an independent neurologist Saturday.

Backup Jason Campbell, who is suffering from a rib injury, went through his first full practice Friday.

Stars on ice tonight

WINNIPEG Jets Andrew Ladd, Bryan Little and Olli Jokinen will take part in today's Guns Vs. Hoses charity fund-raising game, the second annual between the Winnipeg Police and the Winnipeg Firefighters, at 6 p.m. at the MTS Iceplex.

The player draft begins at 4 p.m.

Admission is $10. The affair includes intermission door prizes and an after-party in the complex's Press Box restaurant.

Vonn in giant slalom

APSEN, Colo. -- Lindsey Vonn says she's healthy enough to race in one of the two World Cup races this weekend in Aspen.

The four-time overall champion will compete in the giant slalom Saturday, but skip the slalom Sunday. Vonn recently returned to training after missing time with an intestinal issue that landed her in the hospital.
