Gerula loses title fight in Sweden

Olivia 'The Predator' Gerula failed to win back the WBC women's super featherweight title on Saturday, losing by unanimous decision to Frida (Golden Girl) Wallberg in a 10-round bout in Karlstad, Sweden.
Wallberg had won the title last November, beating Gerula in an eight-round fight that left Gerula and many in the boxing community believing the judges had scored the fight incorrectly.
Gracious
On Saturday, after Gerula lost 99-91, 98-92 and 98-92, she was gracious in defeat.
"I didn't get the job done tonight," Gerula said in an email to the Free Press. "Frida was the better fighter and this time around she deserved the win."
Gerula's record is now 13-12-2 (3 KO) while Wallberg remains undefeated (10-0, 2 KO).
"I'm going to have to take some time to reflect on my performance, but in the meantime, I'm looking forward to cuddling up with an ice pack and making the trip home to my family," Gerula said.
Gerula won the WBC belt in April 2009 and had successfully defended it twice before losing to Wallberg in Stockholm on Nov. 27, 2010, in an eight-round fight. Sweden had a ban on boxing dating back to 1970 in the country and had lifted the ban in 2007 but had not yet sanctioned 10-round bouts.
Gerula's rematch clause in the contract called for a 10-round fight which, when held on Saturday, was the first 10-round boxing match in Sweden since the complete ban on boxing began in 1970.
