PHILADELPHIA -- Allen Iverson is set to retire from the NBA, according to an online report.

Commentator Stephen A. Smith published a statement on his website Wednesday attributed to Iverson. It said Iverson plans to retire but also that "I feel strongly that I can still compete at the highest level."

TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays are bringing back shortstop John McDonald, signing him Wednesday to a two-year deal worth $3 million.

The move gives the Blue Jays at least one shortstop for the big-league roster, as starter Marco Scutaro is also a free agent.

NYON, Switzerland -- Five clubs in Albania, Latvia, Slovenia and Hungary were named as suspects in European football's biggest match-fixing investigation, UEFA said Wednesday.

The European football body identified the clubs as KF Tirana, FC Dinaburg, KS Vilaznia, NK IB Ljubljana and Honved and said they allegedly fixed seven qualifying round games in the Champions League and Europa League between July 16 and Aug. 6.

CALGARY -- It was an extremely public moment for an intensely private man.

Ken Miller, the reserved but always forthright head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, revealed Wednesday that he is a prostate cancer survivor. The disclosure took place during the head coaches' media conference for Sunday's Grey Cup game between the Riders and the Montreal Alouettes.

"Oh, shoot," Miller said while taking a moment to gather himself before explaining what transpired.

Miller was responding to a question about why he was late in joining the Toronto Argonauts in 2002. Miller explained that his late arrival was due to him completing his commitments as a high school biology teacher.

Miller then added that he was also delayed because he was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
