"ö Hedo Turkoglu finally showed the Toronto Raptors what he can do.

The forward added a season-high 23 points to Chris Bosh's game-leading 27 on Sunday as the Raptors defeated the Houston Rockets 101-88.

"Today, I got the ball more and the chance to be more aggressive," Turkoglu said. "As long as I do those things I'm going to look for the best opportunity for myself and try to find my teammates to get them easy shots."

"ö American Bode Miller has sprained his ankle playing volleyball and did not race in the World Cup giant slalom in Val d'Isere, France. The U.S. team said in a statement on Sunday that the 32-year-old hurt his ankle in "dryland training." A team spokesman later said the injury occurred in a volleyball game.

"ö B.J. (The Prodigy) Penn (15-5-1) put a beating on Diego Sanchez at UFC 107 in Memphis on Saturday night in a bout that sent the challenger to hospital with a giant gash on his forehead, possible broken nose, lip torn apart in two places and the rest of his face battered and swollen. Sanchez (23-3) was outgunned and outmatched. He did not complain when the mixed martial arts fight before 13,896 at the FedExForum was halted due to the cut on his forehead.

"It's hard to pick any weaknesses out of B.J.," said heavyweight Frank Mir, who submitted Cheick Kongo in the first round in the co-main event.

"ö The Toronto Blue Jays wasted little time making sure they had a catching option with big-league experience, signing veteran Raul Chavez to a minor-league contract.

Chavez, played in 51 games with Toronto last season, hitting .258 with two home runs and 15 runs batted in. Toronto also signed outfielder Joey Gathright to a minor-league deal.

"ö Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly won the Shark Shootout by a stroke on Sunday in Naples, Fla.

Stricker made an eagle on the par-5 17th -- hitting the second shot and the putt -- to give them the lead.

Kenny Perry and J.B. Holmes, who had been in the lead most of the day, both missed birdie putts on No. 18 that would have forced a playoff in the scramble format.

Kelly and Stricker, who carried a one-shot lead into the day's play, split US$750,000 out of the $3-million purse.
