"ö The head of the Nevada boxing commission ordered Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. to submit to urine tests Monday as a way of trying to break the impasse that has threatened to derail their proposed March 13 megafight.

"That at least starts the ball rolling," said Keith Kizer, the commission's executive director.

The ball may not roll very far, though, as time continues to run out on the big fight. There was no communication between the two sides Monday, and Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum said he planned to announce another fight for Pacquiao today.

"ö Mark Bell made sure Canada remained the only unbeaten team at the Spengler Cup.

Bell scored twice as Canada defeated HC Davos 6-2 in a battle of the tournament's lone remaining undefeated teams Monday.

Canada (2-0) took control of the game early, storming out to a 4-0 second-period lead. The host Davos squad (2-1) came in having won its first two games of the tournament.

The Canadians are back on the ice today to face the Mannheim squad.

"ö Forward Vinny Prospal of the New York Rangers underwent knee surgery Monday and will be lost to the NHL club between 10 days and three weeks.

Prospal, 34, has eight goals and a team-high 24 assists this season in 38 games this season, while playing alongside Marian Gaborik, who has an NHL-leading 26 goals.

"ö Finnish police say they are investigating former Olympic ski jumping champion Matti Nykanen for an alleged violent attack on his wife.

Nykanen, 46, is suspected of attempting to stab his wife Mervi Tapola and then strangle her with a bath robe belt on Christmas Day in their southern Finland home, police said Monday.

Reports of Nykanen's drinking and violent outbursts have appeared repeatedly in Finnish media since he retired. In 2004 he was sentenced to over two years in prison after stabbing a drinking companion.
