AMSTERDAM - Ajax beat struggling PSV 1-0 Sunday to stay top of the Dutch Eredivisie on goal difference, ahead of Vitesse Arnhem.

The defending champion took the lead through Icelandic striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson. He rounded off a flowing Ajax attack in the 64th minute by heading home a cross from Lasse Schoene. PSV failed to convert a string of first-half chances, and are now 14 points adrift of the Amsterdam club.

Vitesse beat PEC Zwolle 2-1 Saturday courtesy of a last-minute winner from Patrick van Aanholt. Vitesse had taken an early lead through Christian Atsu, but PEC levelled in the 10th minute when Guyon Fernandez scored from close range.

FC Twente stayed third by beating Heracles Almelo 3-1 on Friday night and Feyenoord won 5-2 at Utrecht on Sunday to remain fourth.
