  • Print

MADRID - Atletico Madrid says midfielder Tiago Cardoso has injured both his right knee and left wrist.

Atletico says medical tests reveal that Helder Barbosa's tackle in the 67th minute of Saturday's 2-0 loss at Almeria left Tiago with a right knee sprain.

It says that doctors also found Tiago has a left wrist fracture that they have put in a cast.

Atletico, which shares the Spanish league lead with Real Madrid, did not indicate how long it expects the Portuguese midfielder to be sidelined.

It hosts Madrid on Tuesday in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal needing to overturn a 3-0 first-leg loss.
