MADRID - Atletico Madrid says it has reached an agreement with Real Sociedad for the transfer of France winger Antoine Griezmann.

Atletico said in a statement Monday that the 23-year-old still needs to undergo a medical exam before signing his contract. The deal is reportedly worth 30 million euros (US40.3 million).

Griezmann, who impressed for France in the World Cup in Brazil, made his first-team debut at Sociedad in 2009 and has scored 53 goals for the northern Spanish club in 202 matches.

Sociedad said it gave its permission for the medical exam to go ahead and wished "to thank Antoine Griezmann for the professionalism and dedication" he had shown.
