Barcelona's defence takes another hit with Adriano sidelined for 4-6 weeks

BARCELONA, Spain - Barcelona's defence took another hit Sunday when Adriano was ruled out for four to six weeks after injuring a muscle in his right leg during its 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish league.

Adriano couldn't continue past the 22nd minute after he came up lame when trying to latch on to a long pass in the opponent's area.

Barcelona's back line was already without captain Carles Puyol for six to 12 weeks after he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee for the second time in 11 months on Friday.

Adriano has suffered various muscle-related injuries during recent seasons.

Barcelona leads the Spanish league by 13 points, and faces Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarterfinals starting the first week of April.
