Benfica beats Rio Ave 1-0 to win Portuguese Cup final

LISBON, Portugal - Benfica rebounded from losing the Europa league final by winning the Portuguese Cup with a 1-0 victory over Rio Ave on Sunday.

Midfielder Nicolas Gaitan's scored the winner at the National Stadium in Lisbon in the 20th minute with a right-footed strike.

The two clubs also met in the Portuguese League Cup final, which Benfica won 2-0 earlier this month.

Benfica added the cup title to its 25th Portuguese league title and the league cup title.

Benfica lost the Europa League final to Sevilla on Wednesday in a penalty shootout.
