Benfica brushes aside Pacos Ferreira 3-0 to retain share of Portuguese league lead
LISBON, Portugal - Benfica cruised to a 3-0 win at home over third-place Pacos Ferreira on Sunday to maintain its unbeaten record and share of the Portuguese league lead.
Benfica and Porto each have 16 wins and four draws in the league this season. They enjoy a commanding 17-point advantage over Pacos Ferreira, which had only lost once on the road this season before its defeat to Benfica.
Midfielder Enzo Perez scored for Benfica just eight minutes into the match. Oscar Cardozo doubled the lead in the 47th by finishing off a headed pass from Luisao. It was the Paraguay forward's team-best 13th goal of the season.
Eduardo Salvio capped the victory with a goal in the 84th.
Benfica has won 15 of the past 16 visits by Pacos Ferreira.
