Cruz Azul keeps lead in Mexican league with 2-0 win over Chivas; America in 2nd

MEXICO CITY - Cruz Azul remained in first place in Mexico's top division after defeating Chivas 2-0 in the fifth round of matches.

America won 1-0 against Atlante and is one point behind Cruz Azul in second, with Toluca in third despite losing 2-0 to Santos Laguna, with both games played on Saturday. In Sunday's match, Pumas overcame Tijuana 3-0 to move into the playoff positions.

In other games in week five, Puebla won 1-0 against Veracruz, Atlas defeated Pachuca 1-0, Chiapas beat Queretaro 1-0, Monterrey drew 0-0 with Tigres and Morelia also tied 0-0 with Leon.
