David Beckham to make 1st start for PSG in French Cup match against Marseille

PARIS - David Beckham will make his first start for Paris Saint-Germain in Wednesday's French Cup match against rival Marseille.

Beckham made his debut for PSG in Sunday's 2-0 league win over Marseille, coming off the bench in the 76th minute and helping create the second goal.

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti says Beckham will start in place of suspended midfielder Marco Verratti.

Ancelotti says "this is an important position on the field, it will help the team in building the game and have good positioning. He can play a whole game."

Beckham is looking to win a championship title in a fourth different country after previous successes with Manchester United, Real Madrid and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The 37-year-old former England captain joined PSG in January for five months.
