French club Monaco parts ways with coach Claudio Ranieri after team finished 2nd in league
MONACO, Monaco - Monaco says it has parted ways with coach Claudio Ranieri despite qualifying for the Champions League as runner-up behind French champion Paris Saint-Germain.
Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev announced Ranieri's departure on Tuesday and says the club needs a "new dynamic."
Vasilyev says he can't name Ranieri's replacement "because there are details to sort out."
Ranieri, who previously coached in his native Italy, Spain and in England, joined Monaco in 2012. The team finished nine points behind PSG in 2014.
