Injury-prone midfielder Jack Rodwell leaves Man City, looks to revive career at Sunderland

  • Print

SUNDERLAND, England - England midfielder Jack Rodwell will attempt to resurrect his career at Sunderland after being sold by Manchester City for a reported fee of around 10 million pounds.

Sunderland announced the signing of the 23-year-old Rodwell on Tuesday on a five-year deal, ending his injury-plagued spell at City that saw him make just 26 appearances in all competitions since August 2012.

Rodwell joined City from Everton, where he had developed into one of England's most promising young players but whose progress was often hampered by regular injury setbacks.

He has played three times for England but was not in the country's World Cup squad in Brazil.
