Marseille draws 0-0 at home to Ajaccio in French League as title hopes slip further away

MARSEILLE, France - Marseille was held to a goalless draw at home to Ajaccio in the French league on Friday, as it saw its slim title hopes slip further away.

The home side started well and could have taken an early lead but Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa did well to parry Andre Ayew's effort off his line.

Ochoa did even better in the 26th minute to palm Andre-Pierre Gignac's long-range shot just past his left post.

Ajaccio's best chance came when Nicolas N'Koulou slipped to allow Adrian Mutu to steal the ball and race into the area before cutting it back for Johan Cavalli, whose effort flew narrowly past the right upright.

After a second successive goalless draw, Marseille is six points behind leader Paris Saint-Germain which travels to play fourth-place Saint-Etienne on Sunday.
