McInerney clinches Philadelphia Union's first MLS win over Colorado Rapids
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Jack McInerney scored in the 79th minute to lead the Philadelphia Union to a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer on Sunday.
Antoine Hoppenot's pass found McInerney on the right side and he beat goalkeeper Matt Pickens to break the deadlock, giving the Union its first win in six matches against the Rapids.
Amobi Okugo had a first-half goal for Philadelphia and Jamie Smith scored in the 69th minute to equalize for Colorado.
The match had been rescheduled from Saturday because of a snowstorm.
Elsewhere, the Earthquakes had a 2-1 win over the Red Bulls and Chivas USA beat FC Dallas 3-1.
Adam Jahn scored his first professional goal before Chris Wondolowski's game-winning penalty in second-half injury time gave San Jose a come-from-behind win over New York.
New York led for most of the match after Eric Alexander scored in the 17th minute. Jahn equalized in the 83rd minute, sparking a frenzied last 10 minutes.
At Carson, California, David Ferreira opened the scoring for FC Dallas in the 57th minute before Chivas rallied with three late goals to secure the win.
Juan Agudelo equalized with a left-foot shot from the edge of the area in the 68th minute, Oswaldo Minda gave Chivas the lead for the first time with a goal in the 76th and Giovani Casillas finished it off with a counter-attacking goal in stoppage time.
