Parma appeals to Italian council of state against decision to deny it Europa League spot
PARMA, Italy - Parma will appeal to the Italian council of state against a decision not to grant it a UEFA license for next season as it bids to be allowed into the Europa League.
The Italian football federation denied Parma the license after a mistake saw the club underpay a tax bill by 300,000 euros ($408,000), and Italy's highest sporting court upheld the decision last month.
A regional court ruled on Friday that it was not competent to deal with the matter and so Parma, which is also waiting on a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, will take its appeal further.
Parma finished sixth in the Serie A last season, a point and a place above Torino, which has been granted its Europa League berth pending the outcome of any appeal.
