KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Sporting Kansas City acquired midfielder Jimmy Medranda from Colombia's Deportivo Pereira on Thursday for an undisclosed transfer fee and signed him to a multi-year contract.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Medranda will join the defending MLS champions in time for the Disney Pro Soccer Classic and occupy one of their international roster spots.

Medranda, who turned 20 last week, joined Sporting KC on loan last August and made his MLS debut in September. He was the youngest player to appear for the club during its title run.

The addition of Medranda means that Sporting KC returns 26 of the 28 players under contract from its championship roster. That includes 96 per cent of field minutes played last season.
