Stoke settles for 1-1 draw after Swansea rallies to earn a point

  • Print

STOKE, England - Swansea came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Stoke in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Peter Crouch gave Stoke a 17th minute lead but Swansea made the better start to the second half and was rewarded when Chico Flores headed an equalizer in the 52nd.

Stoke broke the deadlock when Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie rifled a low shot against the post and Crouch threaded the rebound through a crowded area.

Flores levelled when Pablo Hernandez curled a ball back into the area after an initial corner kick had been cleared.

Wilfried Bony came agonizingly close to a late winner for Swansea when Nathan Dyer slipped the striker through but his shot was parried by keeper Asmir Begovic and then cleared off the line by Ryan Shawcross.
