STOKE, England - Stoke says it has signed striker Bojan Krkic from Barcelona on a four-year contract with the Premier League club.

Stoke did not disclose the fee for the 23-year-old forward, who trained in Barcelona's La Macia youth academy before playing in the main squad from 2007 to 2011.

Chief executive Tony Scholes said the club was "delighted to have signed such a richly talented and exciting player."

Barcelona thanked Krkic for his "professionalism and dedication" while at the Catalan club. Krkic also played for Roma, AC Milan and Ajax.

Scholes said other clubs had expressed interest in the striker and that Stoke was pleased to offer him a platform "to prove himself in the Premier League."
