West Brom beats last-place Crystal Palace 2-0 in Premier League
BIRMINGHAM, England - Saido Berahino scored just before halftime and Gareth McAuley added a late goal to give West Bromwich Albion a 2-0 win over last-place Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Berahino controlled a cross from Stephane Sessegnon to put his team ahead in the 44th minute. Mile Jedinak and Marouane Chamakh both wasted chances to equalize in the second half before McAuley scored in the 83rd to ensure a seventh consecutive league defeat for Palace.
McAuley met Chris Brunt's cross with a powerful header to end the visitors' hopes of a comeback.
Palace has just three points from 10 games, while West Brom improved to 13 points.
