Here's a great guide for 'green' travellers

Colour this week's travel book giveaway green.

Fodor's Green Travel, The World's Best Eco-lodges and Earth-friendly Hotels, is more than 300 pages of high-quality colour that tells you how best to travel the globe in as environmentally-friendly a way as possible.

The book features "100 environmentally responsible accommodations (on every continent) that are nature friendly and work to support local communities," states the publisher, Random House of Canada Limited.

"Also included is the practical information on getting to your destination (and the best times to go) as well as social and environmental ratings for each listing.''

Here's a taste of the book from a trip to Sri Lanka.

"Welcome to 'bio-versity,' a kind of university for the eco-conscious. This is a place to learn about sustainable lifestyles -- and to see them in action. You won't get a degree, but you'll certainly get an education; and at the heart of all these learned aims, you will also find a wonderfully tranquil place to stay.''

If you travel and you care about our planet, you will want this book. It costs $25, but the 44th reader to e-mail the Travel Section at travelcontest@freepress.mb.ca gets it for free. We'll arrange for delivery.

Congratulations to Robert G, who won last week's book, Vacation Adventures on a Cargo Ship.
