The Polar Bears of Churchill – now there’s a reality show worth watching.
As hundreds of polar bears gather on the banks of Hudson Bay to await freeze-up, the polar bear cams are also back this year to capture all the live action.
Frontiers North Adventures – a company that offers tundra buggy rides – have partnered with Polar Bears International and a multimedia organization explore.org to set up several live video feeds in the flatlands that make up the Churchill Wildlife Management Area.
In the first few days of operation, the cameras have capture polar bears napping, wrestling and lumbering along the water’s edge.
The cameras will be operating for about another month, while 200 to 300 bears migrate through the area – about 1,500 kilometres north of Winnipeg -- waiting for the bay to freeze.
