  • Montmorency Falls, east of Quebec City, is one of the region's top tourist attractions. The falls are also unique in that every winter they give birth to an offspring attraction -- the mountain of ice and snow at the base of the falls that forms as a result of mist from the cascading water crashing, rising up, freezing and falling back down again as a sort of icy snow. Over the winter months, the ice cone grows. It is called the Pain du sucre, or Sugarloaf, because of its shape.
