Becoming an Emirates pod person

THERE'S travelling and there's travelling very well. Emirates Airline business class is travelling very well indeed.
Passengers have their own pods with seats that fold out into full beds. Flight attendants carefully arrange a mattress pad over the plush seat before sleep time. When the seats are upright, there's a massage function to work muscles sore after a lengthy flight.
Each pod has its own full-size television, non-alcoholic mini-bar, countless movies, music options and a work space. If you're in one on the centre rows a privacy screen divides you from your neighbour.
There's a lounge at the back of the plane for drinks, nibblies and the chance to visit while you stretch your legs. Meals include three choices of entree. If you just feel like snacks, there are several hot choices available on demand. The top-notch wine list is limited but the Champagne is the real stuff.
The service is polished, professional and friendly. There are quibbles: in the case of our group, a suitcase was misplaced in Toronto and reunited with its owner 10 days later in the same city. But if you've got the money (Toronto to Dubai to Nairobi return is $10,000) it's a civilized way to spend more than 24 arduous hours of travel.
