LAKE CHARLES, La. - Part of a $211,000 grant given to Calcasieu Parish after the 2010 oil spill is paying for kiosks to tell visitors about seven parks around the parish.
The American Press http://bit.ly/1eBgnwB ) reports that the kiosks describe wildlife, natural resources and activities in the parks.
Anne Taber Klenke is adventure tourism director for the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau. She says kiosks have been installed at Alligator, Holbrook, Intracoastal, Lorrain, White Oak and Prien Lake parks.
Klenke says that once an enhancement project is completed at Calcasieu Point Landing, a kiosk will be installed there. A second is planned at Prien Lake Park once a sidewalk project is finished.
The visitors bureau administers the grant for tourism-related projects.
