Morley Walker, wife, host tour of Costa Rica
JOIN Winnipeg Free Press host Morley Walker and his wife, Gail Marchessault, on an exclusive, in-depth tour of Costa Rica in February.
This 10-day exploration will take travellers into some of the most impressive natural gems Costa Rica possesses.
Known for its spectacular landscapes, rainforests, beaches and outstanding adventure activities, this rich Central American country is also recognized for its established eco-tourism projects and sustainable travel attitude.
The magical environment of the cloud forest of Monteverde enchants nature lovers, bird watchers and adventure seekers alike. The rainforest Sky Walk/Sky Trek offers dramatic views from the top of the forest canopy.
The Arenal Volcano-Fortuna area is known as the adventure capital of Costa Rica, with opportunities for whitewater rafting, kayaking and caving. More relaxing options include a visit to the hot springs, featuring breathtaking views of volcanoes and lush tropical gardens, or a tour of the forest via the famous Hanging Bridges.
Tortuguero National Park lies on the northeastern Caribbean coast, where the primary form of transportation is via waterways and lagoons crisscrossing the park.
The park is home to monkeys, sloths, parrots, manatees, land turtles and many species of freshwater fish. Boat tours and kayaking along the canals and rainforest hikes in the Caribbean rainforest yield opportunities for wildlife viewing and bird-watching.
This Costa Rica journey ends in the capital city of San Jose, home to the national museum with its wealth of exhibits about pre-Columbian Costa Rican cultures.
Popular attractions near the city include the Poás and Irazú volcanoes, whitewater rafting, the La Paz Waterfall Gardens and the renowned Rainforest Aerial Tram at the Braulio Carrillo National Park.
This Costa Rica adventure includes nine nights accommodations, 14 meals, sightseeing with guide, tours in Monteverde, Arenal and San Jose region, and much more.
Tour cost is $1,995 per person based on double occupancy. Air from Winnipeg is $995 plus $295 tax.
