Internal police unit leads to child porn arrest in Winnipeg; one man charged

  • Print

WINNIPEG - A Winnipeg man has been arrested on child pornography charges, and city police are not saying whether he works for them.

Police say a probe launched by their professional standards unit in April led to the arrest Wednesday of Michael Robert Hall.

Const. Natalie Aitken says the professional standards unit normally investigates uniformed and civilian members of the police service.

But she would not go into details, citing "privacy concerns".

Aitken says the pornography was not accessed on any city-owned computers and did not appear to involve local children.

Hall has been charged with accessing, distributing and possessing child pornography.
