CN train hits road grader in west central Saskatchewan, freight cars derail
PAYNTON, Sask. - The driver of a road grader is dead after a CN train carrying oil freight cars crashed into the vehicle in west-central Saskatchewan.
CN Rail says at least two of the oil cars are on their sides and there is an oil leak.
Fourteen other oil cars and a locomotive are off of the tracks, but upright.
CN Rail says 10 vacuum trucks are en route to the remote area between Lloydminster and North Battleford to clean up the spill and there are no lakes, streams or rivers nearby .
There is no immediate word on how much oil has leaked, but each rail car can carry up to 650 barrels.
The collision at the level crossing near Paynton has forced the closure of CN Rail's northern line.
