Short list of final four nominees announced for Aimia AGO Photography Prize

  • Print

TORONTO - Four photographers — including a Canadian expatriate — have been announced as finalists for the Aimia AGO Photography Prize.

Erin Shirreff, who was born in Kelowna, B.C., and now lives in New York, joins Tokyo-born Chino Otsuka; Edgardo Aragon of Mexico; and LaToya Ruby Frazier, who was raised in Braddock, Penn., on a short list chosen by a three-person panel.

The prize, formerly known as the Grange Prize until its rebranding this year, is worth $50,000.

The short list was chosen from a long list that featured 14 nominees from nine different countries.

The shortlisted artists will receive a six-week residency in Canada as well as an exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

The winner of the prize will be chosen Nov. 7, through voting both online and at the AGO exhibit.
