Stage show starring John Malkovich as Casanova to make Canadian debut in June

TORONTO - A stage show starring John Malkovich as Italian adventurer, writer and womanizer Giacomo Casanova will make its Canadian premiere in Montreal this June.

Show One Productions, in collaboration with Starvox Entertainment, will present "The Giacomo Variations" at the Place des Arts in Montreal from June 4-5.

It will then run at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto from June 7-9.

Described as a "fusion of opera and theatre," "The Giacomo Variations" is written by Michael Sturminger with musical concept by Martin Haselbock.

The show, which includes a 45-piece orchestra, had its world premiere in January 2011 in Vienna, Austria.

The two-time Oscar-nominated Malkovich made his first foray into the world of opera in 2008 with "The Infernal Comedy," which he continues to tour internationally.
