VICTORIA - Another B.C. city is challenging Macleans magazine's rankings of the most dangerous places to live in Canada.
The magazine says Victoria is Canada's second most dangerous city, according to crime statistics, but Victoria police are accusing the magazine of using misleading data.
The figures are based on population and Macleans puts the population of Victoria at just over 100,000, but the police say they service about 350,000 people in the Victoria area.
A larger population base would reduce the per capita crime rate.
Earlier this week, the top Mountie in Prince George challenged his city's ranking as the most dangerous in Canada, saying the statistics used by Macleans were dated.
The magazine had referred to seven murders in Prince George in 2010, but Superintendent Eric Stubbs said there have been no murders in the city this year. (CFAX,The Canadian Press)
