Magician Copperfield's plane makes 'frightening' sound, lands earlier than scheduled
PEORIA, Ill. - A private plane carrying magician David Copperfield made a "frightening" sound en route from Las Vegas to New York and had to land about halfway there.
Peoria International Airport officials say Copperfield's plane landed in Illinois after it began experiencing problems early Monday.
The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that Copperfield was supposed to appear live on NBC but ended up filming the interview remotely.
The famed illusionist told NBC that the plane made crackling noises at 37,000 feet (11,275 metres) that he recorded on his cellphone. He says he "kind of freaked out." He also Tweeted that the incident was "so scary."
Copperfield later took a commercial flight back to Las Vegas.
