Powerful North Korean body dismisses SKorea's female president and the 'swish' of her skirt

SEOUL, South Korea - The body that controls North Korea's military is dismissing South Korea's new president, Park Geun-hye, with a sexist comment about the "venomous swish" of her skirt.

An unidentified spokesman for the National Defence Commission's armed forces ministry also repeated North Korean vows from recent days of a "merciless retaliation" over ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills. The statement Wednesday reiterates another North Korean promise to no longer abide by the armistice that ended the Korean War.

Analysts say the torrent of warlike rhetoric that has followed U.N. sanctions last week over Pyongyang's third nuclear test is meant partly to boost loyalty for young leader Kim Jong Un and to win aid from Seoul and Washington.

Park, the daughter of late South Korean dictator President Park Chung-hee, took office Feb. 25.
