DHAKA, Bangladesh — A spokesman says eight people have been killed in a collision between two trains in eastern Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Railway spokesman Shafiqul Alam Khan said an additional 16 people were injured in the accident early Wednesday in Brahmmanbaria district. The area is 80 kilometres east of the capital of Dhaka.

Khan said Upaban Express train rammed into the rear of another train, Noakhali Express that was standing in a railway station for its regular stop. The casualties were all from the Noakhali Express.
