Two Winnipeg Jets were added to World Cup of Hockey rosters on late Friday afternoon.

Mark Scheifele and Jacob Trouba will represent the club with Team North America, one of two teams comprised of players 23 years of age or younger.

Scheifele just finished representing Canada at the IIHF World Hockey Championships in Russia last week, winning gold. The 23-year-old paced the Jets with 29 goals this past season and finished second on the team in scoring with 61 points.

Trouba, 22, scored six times and added 15 helpers in 81 games this season and finished third on the team in ice-time per game with 22:03.

Ivan Telegin, a Jets prospect playing in the Kontinental Hockey League, was added to Team Russia.

In total, the Jets have seven players headed to the World Cup. Dustin Byfuglien was among the first 16 names added to the Team USA’s roster in early March, Connor Hellebuyck was added to Team North America, and Ondrej Pavelec was named earlier this spring to the Czech Republic team.

The World Cup kicks off Sept. 17 in Toronto.
