Manitoba’s police watchdog is investigating a man’s claim he was assaulted by a police officer and that a video related to the incident was tampered with and cut short.

The Brandon Police Service received the complaint Friday and told the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba about it on Monday.

The man claims he was assaulted during his arrest on June 15, 2023. He later obtained a cruiser car video through the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

The IIU is asking witnesses or anyone with information or video that might help its investigation to call 1-844-667-6060.
