3:31 PM
A young man accused of pointing a sawed-off shotgun at several youths in O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi early Monday morning has been arrested.
Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP were called to the community at midnight, after a man was spotted walking around with a gun.
Mounties went to a home on the First Nation, which is on the northwest shore of Lake Manitoba, and arrested an 18-year-old. The officers found the sawed-off shotgun at the rear of the house, along with ammunition.
Mounties say the suspect had pointed the gun at several youths.
The 18-year-old has been charged with several firearms offences. He was let out ahead of a court date.

A sawed-off shotgun was seized in O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi Monday.
Province warns of measles exposure in Winkler
2:08 PM
The provincial government is notifying the public of a new exposure site in Winkler, where people may have been exposed to measles.
Public health officials say anyone who was at Outpost Grill at Co-op Cardlock, on Manitoba Provincial Trunk Highway 3, on Oct. 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Oct. 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. should check their immunization records and ensure they are up to date with measles vaccines.
The announcement of a new exposure site in Manitoba comes the same day international health experts announced Canada was no longer designated a measles-free country, for the first time since 1998.
There have been 5,138 measles cases in Canada this year, including 247 confirmed cases in Manitoba.

Winnipeg to host PWHL takeover game
11:25 AM
The top professional women’s hockey league is coming to Winnipeg in March of 2026 for a Takeover Tour neutral site game.
The PWHL will hit the ice at Canada Life Centre on Mar. 22 as the Montreal Victoire face the Ottawa Charge, with puck drop set for 6 p.m.
A total of 11 different cities will host 16 Takeover Tour games in the continued efforts to showcase the growth of the PWHL across North America.
Last season’s tour drew 123,601 fans with record-breaking crowds across nine games, enhancing fan engagement and expanding the PWHL’s reach beyond its home markets.
The PWHL expanded for this coming season to Vancouver and Seattle to give the league eight teams.
The Victoire roster includes defender Kati Tabin of Winnipeg, while the Charge roster features defenders Jocelyne Larocque of Ste. Anne and Ashton Bell of Deloraine and goalie Logan Angers of Winnipeg.
“This event reflects our commitment to creating opportunities for young women to see themselves represented on the professional stage, and we are proud to play a small role in creating this moment for our community,” Annie Chipman Stockl, True North Sports and Entertainment vice-president of marketing said in a press release.
Ticket pre-sales begin this Thursday at 10 a.m., while the general sales are open to the public this Friday at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.ca or thepwhl.com/tickets.

Firefighters battle blaze at North End home for second time this year
9:43 AM
Winnipeg firefighters were called to the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue late Sunday night after reports of a fire in a vacant house — the second blaze at the property this year.
Crews arrived shortly after 11 p.m. and launched an interior attack, bringing the fire under control just before midnight. No one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The same home previously caught fire in June. All occupants in that fire were able to escape before fire crews arrived. One person was treated by paramedics but did not require hospitalization.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is asking residents to call 911 immediately if they see someone actively entering a vacant building or removing boards from windows or doors from a building, or call 311 if boarded windows or doors have been breached but no one is seen actively trying to enter.
