Grade 3's think our NHL team should be named...

Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 31/5/2011 (3291 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.

This is classic. A classroom of grade 3’s were asked their thoughts on the name of our new NHL team. They also had to defend their answer with a solid argument. They are brilliant. Enjoy.

If I could name Winnipeg’s hockey team would name them THE WINNIPEG DOMINATORS!! The reason I would name them the Winnipeg Dominators is because they would dominate any team they play. So that means they would win the Stanley Cup at least once. Though I don’t think they’ll win every game but they’ll still win a lot of their games and it will be fun to cheer them on Lets go Dominators lets go. I hope that I’ll get to go to one of their games. I’m very excited that Winnipeg is coming back. I also think that Winnipeg’s logo should be a hand destroying something. That’s what I would name Winnipeg’s team.

I think the new hockey team name should still be the Winnipeg Jets. I think they should still be the Winnipeg Jets because that name fits our hockey team. They’re as fast as Jets. I think there colours should be red and white because that’s the Canadian flag. I wonder what players we will get for the hockey team. Let’s hope the Jets win.

Winnipeg Cougars. I like this name because we have cougars in Winnipeg. Cougars represent speed and power. I think this is a great hockey team name. The team will have speed and power. The team colours will be light blue, white, and yellow. That is why I like this name.

Our new hockey team name should be called the Winnipeg Jets. Our old team were the Jets for 24 years. We have great history with that name. We won 3 Avco cup trophies. We also had lot of great hockey players. Players such as Bobby Hull and Dale Hawerchuk are in the hall of fame. The Jets name is also very popular. Lots of people love the name. Our new NHL team should be Winnipeg Jets because of its history and popularity. The colours are Blue, Red and White. I am exited because the old Jets are coming back to Winnipeg. (GO Winnipeg Jets.)

I think that the new Winnipeg hockey team should be the Winnipeg Frost. That’s because in the winter if you go outside with out hats you will get a frost bite. Steven Harper and the government will agree with that! Also the jersey colour should be white &blue because the sky is always almost blue and because the frost is white. The jersey logo should be a snow flake and white grass. I hope my idea works!

I think the name of our team should and will be The Manitoba Falcons. I think it should because it is a great name for team. The logo would be green for Falcons white for Snow and blue for Ice. The logo would be two skating Falcons with a snow-cloud on top. I think it will be because I heard on TSN the name will probably be the Manitoba Falcons. Before the Winnipeg Jets, there was a hockey team called the Manitoba Falcons. So, it would have a little history. I hope the name will be the Manitoba Falcons.

I am going to name the new hockey team. I would call them the CHUFUGABOO’S!!! I would this because everyone would like it. Also it’s funny. I think the colour should be red and blue. The logo should be a monkey. That’s what I would call the new hockey team.

If I could name a Winnipeg hockey team I would call it the Winnipeg Jets. I would name it that because jets are very big and strong just like hockey players. Also to me I think it’s a pretty cool name. I wish it would be called the Winnipeg Jets. That would be awesome.

I think the Winnipeg Jets new name should be The Winnipeg Wolves. I think so because wolves come out at night and night is cold like Winnipeg. Also, both words start with W. I think Wolves are brave and hockey players are brave too. The logo should be a wolf biting a hockey stick. The wolf should be grey and the hockey stick should be red and white. This is why I think the name should be Winnipeg Wolves.

If there is a new hockey team I have already figured out an interesting name. It is a special name Macafloiseca which is a combination of the names of the six major Canadian hockey teams. They are the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators, and Montreal Canadians. I also pictured a powerful mascot that will look like this. Its body is shaped like the letter C. Its hands are maple leafs holding a hockey stick. Its head is a hockey puck, but it has oil flame hair. The jerseys will be a picture of the colours in the world. Even if I’m not a good hockey player I’m convinced that Macafloiseca is an extraordinary name and my imaginary mascot would make our hockey team the best of all.

This is what I think our new teams name should be. It should be called the Winnipeg Freezers. I think this is a good name because Winnipeg is like a giant freezer because it snowed till May. The jersey is light blue and white with an ice block in the middle. This is what I think our new team should be named.
