Child actors and extras are being invited to an open casting call for a horror anthology TV series that will be shooting in Winnipeg from May until October.
Destined to air on the American SyFy Network, Channel Zero is a described as a horror anthology series "devoting each season to telling one original horror story sourced from the darkest corner of the internet — where modern and terrifying urban legends are born," according to Winnipeg casting agency Kari Casting. That one-story-per-season model has enjoyed success with TV series such as American Horror Story and True Detective.
SyFy's own website says the show will be produced by Max Landis, a writer with credits on the movie Chronicle and Victor Frankenstein, and Nick Antosca, a writer and co-producer on the series Hannibal.
The production has scheduled an open casting call for kids aged five to 14 years, both male and female, of all ethnicities. No experience is necessary.
The date for the casting call is on Saturday, Apr. 16 at the Manitoba Production Centre, 1350 Pacific Ave. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition to a general call for kids, Kari Casting will specifically be looking to cast twin boys between the ages of nine and 13.
Application forms will be available in person or downloadable from the Kari Casting website at www.karicasting.com.
The agency will be taking a quick snapshot of applicants on the day. If you can't attend that day, Kari Casting says they will accept an application and photo by mail addressed to Kari Casting, P.O. Box 68043, RPO Osborne Village, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2V9.
More information is available on the website or on their 24-hour hotline at 204-287-8839.
