"I'm in a book club with nine other guys. We meet monthly for a spirited literary free-for-all. Although I should really be reading Michael Ondaatje's The Cat's Table for our upcoming meeting, I keep getting drawn back into Bruno Schulz's masterpiece The Street of Crocodiles. It's a dazzling collection of tales by a little-known Polish artist who I think is probably one of the finest writers of the 20th century. If you enjoy well-written short stories in which ordinary life, psychosis, ancient mythology and magical realism merge into one another so imperceptibly that you're not even sure where the boundaries are, then I would highly recommend you pick up this gem."
